Letter from Santa Maker
Add your child's name and pick up to four good things they did this year (brushing teeth, helping a sibling, trying new foods and more, or write your own), plus their wish and a promise for next year. Santa's reply is written right away from a set of hand-written sentences, so every tap of "Write it differently" gives a slightly new letter, and you can edit any word. Download a printable PDF (A4, and it prints fine on US Letter) with our postal bear and reindeer, an envelope front with a pretend North Pole postmark, and a 1080×1920 image for texting. Teachers can type a whole class list and print a letter for every child. Free, no email sign-up, no watermark, and names never leave your device.
Sample letter from Santa
Dear Mia,
Ho ho ho! Your letter arrived at the North Pole by reindeer mail, and I read it twice by the fire. Six years old already! You must have grown taller and kinder since last Christmas.
I've been watching from my workshop window this year, and what a year it has been. You've been brushing your teeth so well, all by yourself. I know how kindly you looked after your little brother or sister. That's why your name is shining bright on this year's Nice List.
The elves wrote a dinosaur toy down in their notebook. Let's see what Christmas morning brings! I've written your promise for next year, eating your veggies, in my notebook. Take your time. I'm cheering for you.
It's so cold that icicles hang from my beard, but the toy shop is always warm and cozy.
If you hear sleigh bells outside your window on Christmas Eve, that's me passing by. I'm always cheering for you. Merry Christmas!
With love from the North Pole,
Santa
This is the letter you get for Mia, age 6, who brushed her teeth well and helped her little brother or sister, wishes for a dinosaur toy and promises to eat her veggies next year. Change the name and the good deeds above and the letter rewrites itself.
What Santa says about each good deed
- Brushed teeth: I heard you brushed your teeth every morning and every night. That smile shines all the way to the North Pole. / You've been brushing your teeth so well, all by yourself.
- Tried new foods: You tried new foods, even the green ones. The elves cheered! / I heard you've been brave with new foods at dinner. Well done!
- Helped a sibling: I know how kindly you looked after your little brother or sister. / When your little brother or sister needed a hand, you were there. That is a big, warm heart.
- Brave at the doctor's: You were so brave at the doctor's, even when it was hard. / When you were sick, you took your medicine and got better like a champion.
- Read lots of books: You read so many books this year! I looked some of them up in the North Pole library. / I hear story time before bed is one of your favorite things.
- Tidied up toys: You put your toys away after playing. The elves would love a helper like you. / Tidying up your toys all on your own? Very impressive.
Every good-deed button has two lines like these, and "Write it differently" mixes them up. Feel free to copy them into a handwritten letter.
How to deliver it so it feels like magic
- On Christmas Eve, after your child is asleep, leave the envelope under the tree or tucked into a stocking. Quietly remove the letter they wrote to Santa so it looks like he took it.
- Cut out the envelope front, glue it onto any envelope and fold the letter in thirds inside. A pinch of glitter or a pine needle in the envelope adds a little North Pole touch.
- Text the phone image to grandparents, or show it on your phone on Christmas morning: “Look, Santa sent you a message!”
Getting a reply from Santa by mail
Canada Post answers letters sent to Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, with no stamp needed inside Canada (2025 deadline: December 8). Royal Mail replies to letters addressed to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ that carry a stamp and a return address (2025 deadline: December 10). In the US, USPS Operation Santa is different: volunteers adopt letters sent to Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole 88888 and mail gifts, so a written reply isn't guaranteed. Deadlines change every year, so check before you post.

FAQ
What should a letter from Santa say?
Kids light up when Santa uses their name, says he got their letter, and praises one or two specific things they did this year. After that, mention their wish, cheer on a goal for next year, share a bit of North Pole news (reindeer practice, busy elves, the postal bear) and remind them to go to sleep early on Christmas Eve. This maker strings the letter together in that order. It never uses threats like "no presents if you're naughty."
Is it really free? Do I need to give my email?
It's completely free, with no email, no account and no watermark. The letter, envelope and image are all made inside your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How can my child get a real reply from Santa by mail?
In Canada, Canada Post answers letters mailed to Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0 with no stamp needed inside Canada (the 2025 deadline was December 8). In the UK, Royal Mail replies to letters sent to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ with a stamp and a return address (the 2025 deadline was December 10). In the US, USPS Operation Santa works differently: volunteers adopt letters mailed to Santa Claus, 123 Elf Road, North Pole 88888 and send gifts, so a personal reply is not guaranteed. If you missed a deadline, print this one and leave it under the tree.
How do I make the letter look like it came from the North Pole?
Print it in the Santa script font so it looks nothing like your handwriting. Cut out the envelope front, which shows a North Pole return address, a reindeer stamp and a pretend postmark, and glue it onto any envelope. Then tuck it into a stocking, under the tree or in the mailbox on Christmas morning.
Can teachers print a letter for every child in class?
Yes. Open "A whole class at once" and enter up to 40 names, one per line. You get one PDF with a letter for each child and two envelope fronts per page. Each child gets a slightly different mix of sentences, so no two letters are exactly alike. The good deeds, wish and promise apply to everyone, so pick ones that fit the whole class.
What paper size is the PDF? Will it print on US Letter?
Pages are A4 (210×297mm) at 200dpi. On US Letter paper, choose "Fit to page" or "Scale to fit" in your print dialog and the whole letter prints with a slightly larger white margin. The envelope front is 200×100mm, sized to glue onto a standard #10 or DL envelope, and the letter folds in thirds to fit inside.
Can I change the words or my child's name spelling?
Yes. Tap the letter text to edit it directly. Your edits stay put even if you change the options above, and "Rewrite from my answers" brings back a fresh letter whenever you want.
