Bar Chart Race Maker

Good to know

Paste a table of values over time and this tool turns it into a racing bar chart video in vertical 9:16 (1080×1920), the size YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok expect. Current Chrome, Edge and Safari save an MP4; other browsers save WebM. Twelve time points at normal speed make a video of about 13 seconds. Your data stays in this browser and is never uploaded.

Table layout to paste

Time points go across the first row and names down the first column. Empty cells are filled in between the values around them; before the first value and after the last one count as 0.

How to make a bar chart race

  1. 1

Copy a table from Excel or Google Sheets and paste it into the box under "Edit table". Put time points (2022, Jan, Week 1) across the top row and names down the first column. A table with dates running down the side is flipped automatically.

  2. 2

Got a ranked list instead, like "1. Pizza 320"? Paste it under "Paste a ranking" and it becomes one new time point. Paste again to add the next one.

  3. 3

Type a title and tap "Make video". The preview is recorded as it plays. When it finishes, tap "Save video" and post it to Shorts or Reels with a sound from the app.

FAQ

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It is free and needs no account. One small "wimouniv.com" line sits under the source line near the bottom, and nothing else is added.

What should my table look like?

Time points across the first row (2022, 2023, 2024), names down the first column, numbers in the cells. If your dates run down the first column instead, the tool flips the table for you, and "Swap rows and columns" fixes anything it gets wrong. Long tables with "date, name, value" on every row work too, and values like 1,234, 3.5k or 1.2M are read as numbers.

Will I get an MP4?

Current Chrome, Edge and Safari record straight to MP4. Browsers that cannot record MP4, such as Firefox, save WebM. YouTube accepts WebM as is, but Instagram only takes MP4 or MOV, so make the video in Chrome or Safari if it is going to Reels.

How long will the video be?

It opens with 0.8 seconds of bars growing in, then each step to the next time point takes 1.6 s (slow), 1 s (normal) or 0.6 s (fast), and it ends by holding the final ranking for 1.6 seconds. Twelve time points at normal speed come to about 13 seconds. Recording runs in real time, so keep this tab open and on screen until it finishes.

Does the video have sound?

No, it is a silent video. Add music when you post it in YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels or TikTok, where the app supplies tracks you are allowed to use.

Can I paste a ranked list instead of a table?

Yes. Lines like "1. Pizza 320", "#1 Pizza - 320 votes" or "Pizza 1,234,567" work one per line. The number after each name becomes its value. If the list has no numbers at all, ranks become points: with 10 entries, first place gets 10 and tenth place gets 1.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. Tables, pasted lists and photos are used only inside this browser and are never uploaded or stored, so a refresh brings back the starter example. Keep the original in your spreadsheet and paste it again when you need it.

Can I use rankings from other websites?

Open data or numbers you collected yourself are the safe choice. Many survey and ranking sites forbid copying their tables, especially for commercial use, so read their terms first, and always put where the numbers came from in the "Source" field.
