How to remove a background

  1. Drop one or more photos into the box, click to choose them, or paste an image with ⌘/Ctrl+V.
  2. Wait a few seconds while the AI model cuts out the subject. The first run downloads the model once; after that it is much faster.
  3. Keep the background transparent or swap in a color, gradient, your own image or a blur. Use Feather and Threshold to clean up the edges.
  4. Click "Download PNG" for the selected image, or "Download all (ZIP)" for the whole batch.

FAQ

Is it really free? Is there a watermark?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no credits and no watermark, and no limit on the number of images. Very large photos are scaled to 2048 px on the long edge to keep your browser responsive.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The background-removal model runs inside your browser (WebGPU or WebAssembly), so your photos never leave your device. Only the model files are downloaded the first time you use it.

How do I get a transparent PNG?

Leave the background set to "Transparent" and click "Download PNG". PNG keeps the transparency, so you can drop the cut-out onto slides, product listings or designs.

Can I replace the background with white or another color?

Yes. Choose "Color" and pick white (or any color) — handy for product photos and profile pictures. You can also use a gradient, upload your own background image, or blur the original background for a portrait effect.

The edges look rough. How do I fix them?

Raise "Feather" to soften the outline, and adjust "Threshold" to drop faint leftover pixels around the subject. Changes apply instantly to every finished image. Hair and fur are the hardest areas; a higher-resolution source photo helps.

Can I remove backgrounds from many photos at once?

Yes. Select or drop several images and they are processed one after another. Click any item in the list to preview it, then download everything as one ZIP.

Why is the first image slow?

The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (a large one-time file) and caches it. Later images — and later visits — skip that step. Browsers with WebGPU (recent Chrome and Edge) are fastest.
