Fish Benchmark Test

Good to know

Goldfish keep multiplying until your device cannot hold 30 fps for 2 seconds. The count at that moment is your score. It takes 60 seconds at most and runs in your browser, no install or sign-up.

What this test measures

StageWhat happens
Start12 goldfish swim for a little over a second so we can see your normal frame rate.
Add fishFish arrive quickly while frames are plentiful and slowly as you near the limit.
StopThe test ends once you cannot hold 30 fps for 2 seconds, or at 60 seconds.

It shows how fast your browser can draw, just for fun. It does not replace a full benchmark app that scores CPU or storage on their own.

How it works

  1. 1

Tap Release the fish and wait. The tank fills up on its own.

  2. 2

When your screen starts to stutter the test stops and shows your count.

  3. 3

Fix the device name if you like, then save the card or send the challenge link.

FAQ

Is this the old Microsoft Fishbowl test?

No. The idea is the same, but this is a new tank built by Wimo, so counts from Fishbowl or the WebGL Aquarium do not line up with ours. Compare numbers measured on this page.

What is a good fish count?

There is no leaderboard, because we have not collected device data and will not make up averages. The fairest comparison is sending the challenge link so a friend runs the same tank.

Why do I get a different number each run?

Heat, a low battery and apps running in the background all drag the frame rate down, and browsers differ too. Let your phone cool off and use the same browser for a closer result.

Why does my phone get warm?

It is drawing nonstop at full speed for a short while. The test ends within 60 seconds and the fish freeze as soon as you get a result.

Does low power mode change the result?

Yes. Some devices limit screen updates to about 30 fps in low power mode. If your frame rate starts near that, we say so under the result. Low power mode also cuts performance, so turn it off for a truer number.

Is my data sent anywhere?

The measurement stays in your browser, and your device name and fish count are not stored. We only log anonymous usage events, like how often the tool runs. The challenge link contains your fish count and the device name you typed.

Why does it just say iPhone?

Safari does not tell web pages the exact model. Type your model in the device box and it will appear on your card.

Can I run it on a computer?

Yes. It works as a browser benchmark on desktop too, and the 30 fps bar stays the same on high refresh rate monitors. Switching tabs resets the test.
