Printed sizes (US Letter, actual size)
| Piece | Size | Per page | Pages for 24 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Large circle number | 2.2 in across | 12 | 2 |
| Large gift tag number | 1.6 × 2.2 in | 16 | 2 |
| Small circle number | 1.5 in across | 24 | 1 |
| Small gift tag number | 1.1 × 1.5 in | 36 | 1 |
| Activity card | 3.5 × 2.2 in | 8 | 3 |
With the default settings (large circles plus activity cards) a 24-day calendar is 5 pages. Switch to small numbers and all 24 fit on one sheet, so the whole set prints on 4 pages.
How to put your advent calendar together
- Download the PDF and print on Letter (or A4) paper with scaling set to "Actual size". Cardstock or sticker paper makes the numbers easier to attach.
- Cut out the numbers along their outer edge and the cards along the dashed lines.
- Put each day's card (and a small treat, if you like) into an envelope, box or roll and stick the matching number on the front.
- Clip them to a string or pile them in a basket, then open one a day starting December 1.
Container ideas
- Envelopes: cards are 3.5 × 2.2 in, so they slide into coin envelopes or small seed packets. Clip them to twine with mini clothespins for a wall garland.
- Toilet paper rolls: fold one end in, drop in the card and a candy, fold the other end, and stick a circle number on the front.
- Paper cups: tape 24 cups to a board, cover the tops with tissue paper and add the numbers — kids punch through one a day.
- Gift bags: the gift tag shape has a punch mark at the top, so you can tie it to a bag with ribbon.

How to use it
- Pick how many days (24, 25 or 12) and an activity set: family, couples, self-care or reading. The box below fills with one activity per line — edit, replace or delete any of them. An empty line becomes a blank card you can fill in by hand.
- Choose the number tag shape (circle or gift tag), size, theme and font. The preview shows the number pages and the activity card pages.
- Tap "Download PDF", print at "Actual size", cut everything out, tuck each card into an envelope or box and stick the matching number on the front.
FAQ
What goes inside a DIY advent calendar?
Anything small: a treat, a sticker, a note — or, more and more often, an activity for the day like baking cookies or watching a holiday movie. This maker prints numbered tags for the outside and a card for every day on the inside, so you can use envelopes, paper cups, toilet paper rolls, small boxes or bags you already have.
What size are the numbers and the cards?
Large circles are 2.2 in across (12 per page) and large gift tags are 1.6 × 2.2 in. Small circles are 1.5 in across and small gift tags 1.1 × 1.5 in, so all 24 numbers fit on one page. Activity cards are 3.5 × 2.2 in, a little bigger than a business card, eight per page. Print at "Actual size" rather than "Fit to page".
Can I write my own advent activities?
Yes. Each set just fills the text box with one activity per line, and you can type over anything. Line 1 is December 1, line 2 is December 2, and so on. Each line holds up to 70 characters and long ones shrink to fit the card. Leave a line empty to get a blank card with writing lines.
What is the difference between 24, 25 and 12 days?
24 days runs December 1 to Christmas Eve, 25 adds Christmas Day. The 12-day option counts down December 13–24, handy if you start late or want a shorter calendar for little kids. Each card is printed with its date.
Do you have advent calendar ideas for couples or adults?
The "Couples" set has coffee coupons, date ideas and little notes to hand your partner one day at a time. "Self-care" is a solo countdown with small daily habits like a phone-free walk or an early night. "Reading" is 25 book challenges for readers, from one poem before bed to picking your book of the year.
How do I put the calendar together?
The easiest version: slip each card into a small envelope (at least 3.6 × 2.4 in), stick a number on the front and clip the envelopes to a string with mini clothespins. You can also fold the ends of toilet paper rolls around a card and a treat, or tape paper cups to a board and cover the tops. Gift tags have a punch mark so you can tie them onto bags with ribbon.
Is there a coloring version for kids?
Pick the "Coloring" theme for black-and-white numbers and cards. Coloring all 24 numbers together makes a nice first-of-December activity, and it saves ink.
Is it free, and is my text uploaded?
It is free with no account and no watermark; the small site address sits in the page margin outside the cut lines. Everything is drawn in your browser and your text never leaves your device. The fonts (Jua, Gaegu) are licensed under the SIL Open Font License and the little pictures are our own drawings.
